Monemvasia  is a historic town in Laconia, Greece. The town is located on a small island off the east coast of  Peloponnese. The island is linked to the mainland by a short causeway 400m in length. The town is famous for its powerful medieval fortress.

It is one of the best-preserved and lively castles in Greece, which gathers visitors all year round. Dozens of churches, rich merchant mansions, fountains, hammam baths and windy cobble stoned streets have been kept in a remarkably good condition, keeping the mysterious atmosphere of this settlement undiminished in time.
